Carolyn Birdsall is Assistant Professor of Media Studies, University of Amsterdam. She studied at the University of New South Wales (History and Media/Communications) and Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf, before completing a doctorate at the University of Amsterdam. Birdsall’s monograph, Nazi Soundscapes (AUP, 2012) was the recipient of the ASCA Book Award 2013. Her current NWO-funded research project examines the impact of war and conflict on media archival collections in Europe.
